Weekly Announcements: 9/16 - 9/20

Hello all! Welcome to what is sure to be an awesome year for choral education here @ CBMS. I'm so excited at the progress each of the groups have made already!

For this coming week, there is nothing happening since after school busses haven't started yet. Enjoy some time off before the crazy starts!

Some things to keep in the back of your brain, though...

  • Treble Select Ensemble: I have decided to hold auditions for this group on Tuesday Sept. 24th after school. All are welcome! We rehearse every Tuesday after school from 3-4:15. I understand ASH (after school help) happens during this time, so I am certainly flexible with letting students go to classes to get help! However, if you envision being at ASH pretty consistently, it probably won't work out to be in the group, as it is important that all members are at as many rehearsals as possible. Last year, the number of people who attended rehearsals was very inconsistent, so we didn't get done much in the way of music since we were constantly going over the same things when different people showed up. In order for us to reach the maximum level of success, the default expectation is that members will be at rehearsal every week. (Again, I love to be flexible so people can get the help they need, and I understand life happens and guaranteeing you will be at every rehearsal is impossible. But the nature of an ensemble is that we work together on a consistent basis! 😊)

  • Star Spangled Palooza: from what I remember, there were 7 participants in this event last year that represented CBMS. This year I am FLOORED to find out we have 57 participants, and an equally healthy number of chaperones! All I can say to this is THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. It really speaks to the growth of the program that we have so many kids wanting to take part in these opportunities, and the commitment of their families who are willing to give up their time to assist! (I'll post the details about the event when we get closer to it.)

  • All County Choir Auditions: I want nothing more than for every and any kid to have an experience as awesome as being a part of all-county choir. And auditions do not have to be a scary or intimidating process! That is why we all have already learned the song, and are working on sight reading in the coming weeks to prepare. Even if the student doesn't get in, the act of auditioning is so valuable and I would highly encourage all to participate! If interested, there is an online application process...I don't have that information from the Music Office yet, but when I do, I will certainly be passing it along!

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

All the best,

Megan
