My Education Philosophy

I want to create passionate, curious, life-long learners by being an example. I know I am not perfect and I want my students to know they are not either, but that is OK. I believe hard work and fun can be one and the same; it's all in the approach. I am a HUGE advocate of a GROWTH MINDSET. As far as my music classroom, my goal is to direct every student to find their path of success in whatever aspect of music fascinates them most, in the way they learn best. Everyone's strengths and the building of our weaknesses can lead us to a collective success. I am different because I am authentic - I truly believe that quality music-making can lead to a quality life; the same process of quality music-making will guide the minds of our youth into the next capable, accomplished, and compassionate generation.

My Mission Statement

I believe all people have an incredible amount of potential inside them. It takes patience, compassion, and genuine relationships to bring it out in them. This is why I love teaching; whether formally in a classroom or in a relaxed conversation. I enjoy being the person who facilitates the discussions that get the wheels turning, sparking interest in a topic someone knows much about, or guiding someone into a niche that makes them feel comfortable and successful. To me, children especially exude this attitude. Naturally curious, children are eager to learn about things that are of interest to them. Not only must the content engage them, but everyone's brain works differently so the learning techniques will vary from person to person.

Who Am I?

Hello! My name is Megan Louder. I was born and raised in south-central Pennsylvania and grew up in a musical family. I enjoy playing tennis, spending time with my closest friends, spending time outside, reading, learning about coffee (through my work with Starbucks), but most importantly I love interacting with humans, learning about them, and investing in them. My father, a middle school music teacher, made sure I started music early and though I love it, I would say I am equally as passionate about people (especially youth). I want to see them grow, succeed, and appreciate their life. Music is the medium through which I choose to teach these attributes.

I am very passionate about my work & my hobbies. I enjoy learning new things and engaging in the things I already love to do. Some of my favorite pastimes include reading, spending time outdoors, going to performances, and exploring new places with friends.
